October 8, 2025 - Let's Eat!

As someone who enjoys cooking (and eating!), I always shy away from middle eastern food, because it takes so much time and effort to make. However, I think some of their dishes are really worth the trouble of spending hours for them, with one of them being Dolma.

So many versions of Dolmas! I suggest you try them all if you ever get the chance. Personally not fan of the cabbage and eggplant ones though.

Dolma means "stuffed" in Turkish, in Arabic we call it "mahashi", which essentially means the same thing. It's a dish that's very common across the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East. Dolma is a dish made with cooked vegetables stuffed with rice, herbs and sometimes meat. The most common vegetables used are grape leaves, bell peppers, squash/zucchini, eggplants, tomato and cabbage.
My favourite one is stuffed zucchini made with the Syrian version, but because I don't have the proper tools to make them in Japan, nowadays I only make bell pepper Dolmas, which is a bit easier to stuff considering they have a hollow structure by nature.
You guys have already seen how it looks from inside in my first post, but this is how it looked before I cut it in half.

When it comes to Bell Pepper Dolmas, I like to cook the Turkish way, because that's where I first remember trying them. As someone who doesn't like peppers, I was surprised by how good they tasted. I don't exactly remember the recipe I used to make this, since it was months ago, but this one was the closest recipe I found to the one I used. I do remember that I combined that with another recipe that was either Armenian or Greek version, but I couldn't find any page similar to the one I remember. The Greek version seems to be vastly different than the version I'm more familiar with (Turkish).

  1. I like stuffed peppers, I guess they are popular world wide! In America we call them Hunky Hand Grenades!

October 15, 2025 - Mid Term Video Project

There was this video that I watched about English names for apartments in Japan, so I decided to share my thoughts about it. I did ramble a lot in the video so sorry about that haha. P.S. today is my birthday!

November 10, 2025 - Final Video!!

I don't know if it's the same for everyone, but every time someone asks me to tell an interesting story, my mind just goes blank. Sometimes I do end up finding a story or an incident, but then it ends up being too context or timing heavy that it falls flat when I retell it. The only way I know how to make others laugh is usually when I make a joke out of myself, so here you go, me exposing my embarrassing moments. I do want to apologise for the low quality video. My room is in the middle of rearranging so it doesn't have a table at the moment haha. After notes: The other objects in the video don't really have stories as interesting as the headband one, if anything most of them are just painful to think about.  Like the earpods missing one of them? That's because I accidentally dropped it and walked over, crushing it in the process. I remember feeling so guilty that I never asked my dad to give me anything again. That bag that I travelled 2.5 hours for was a bag I bo...

October 29, 2025 - What is News to You?

A lot of things has happened the last 2 months, but I think one of the notable events are the ceasefire deal that happened in Gaza. For now, the situation is still on edge, but the bombing has finally stopped, and the Palestinians were finalle able to breath for the first time in 2 years. Of course, the humanitarian crisis continues and the situation is still very tragic, but I'm at least glad that the conflict has calmed down, and I hope that it continues to get better and not worse. Palestinians celebrating ceasefire news I think part of this should be given credit to the many people worldwide who stood for the Palestinians the last 2 years, with protests, strikes, boycotts, etc. For example, around 2 million Italians went on a one day general strike in over 100 cities, after Israel illegally detained and tortured activists from all over the world who carried aid in Global Sumud Flotilla. I think we're really witnessing the world changing. Now that innternet and social media...
