October 6, 2025 - All About Music

People keep asking me what kind of music I usually listen to, and I find that question one of the hardest ones to answer. I had strict parents, so I wasn't allowed to listen to music that my parent's didn't provide. So for pretty much 18 years, I didn't listen to songs much outside of what my family, and sometimes my friends, let me.

My childhood songs mostly consist of Fairuz and Arabic songs from a popular song channel for children called Toyor Al-Janah (old cast was better, nowadays their songs are a flop).

Toyor Al Jannah Logo. They now have so many variations of this for their different channels

And even after I became an adult, listening to music hasn't become much of a habit, until I came to Japan and started listening to songs from Japanese music projects or anime. For English, most of the songs I know come from animated shows that I like, or from animatics (basically a storyboard with a soundtrack) made by creators on YouTube.

One of the songs that I got obsessed with is called Curses by The Crane Wives. The artist didn't really explain the meaning of the songs, but a lot of the lyrics suggest it's written from the pov of someone who's enigmatic, or hiding something dark from their loved ones.

I really love this part of the song, specially when the singer sings the second "When this house don't feel like home" verse, which then leads up to the second chorus.

This house is my name like an elegy
Oh my, oh my
Echoing where my ghosts all used to be
Oh my, oh my
There's still cobwebs in the corners
And the backyard's full of bones
Won't you stay with me, my darling
When this house don't feel like home?
When this house don't feel like home?

One thing I love about listening to songs is that I sometimes imagine them as theme songs for my original characters. The charactera in my head that I assigned this song for are a woman and her husband, who both had high ambitions for power and strength, but went too far and ended up with a curse. So now in the song she's speaking to her husband, who has now an indestructive metal body There was a whole backstory for that but you know it'll get long so why not go and listen to the song instead?

If you turn on the captions, you can see that the artist provided captions for those who have trouble listening, which I found really sweet.

Oh and by the way, this is the animatic that I found the song from. Don't ask me what Last Life means, I only know of this video because of the YouTube algorithm haha.

I also tried making my own animatic once. One animatic I made exists somewhere on YouTube floating around, though I don't plan on telling anyone about it haha.

  1. I would not expect a band called Curses to be so upbeat! I thought they'd be like, sad...

Also, the music might be upbeat, but the lyrics sometimes are questionable.

September 29, 2025 - My Favorite Site!

In this day and age, the news tend to have a lot of negative content such as political conflicts, economical crisis, tragic accidents etc. But how come we never hear about good things happening around us? Why do we rarely hear about people trying to change the world for the better, even a little bit? These questinos led me to a site called Positive News , which is exactly what its name implies, just a bunch of positive stories and good things that happened that the normal news outlet usually don't tell us. From my observation, at least 60% of their news are environment related, such as renewable energy or progress in sustainablity, but they also talk about positive things that happen in ongoing conflict zones as well. And personally, it's a website that inspires me to do better, be concsious in my choices for products, and just be aware of things that are going around the world without feeling hopeless. You can check out the site here , and maybe subscribe to their newsletter i...

October 13, 2025 - Game On!

Playing games has always been one of my favorite ways to pass time, and it's something that carried me through both my best and worst moments in my life. At some point video games became more of an obsession than a way to pass time, so I've been recently trying to monitor my impulsive tendencies like getting too immersed or spending money. I think nowadays I have a much better appraoch than before and am able to manage the time I spend playing them, and not let myself become dependent on them for too long. As for my favorite games, there's one game I always talk about when people ask me that question, which is Reverse: 1999. A game with gorgeous graphics, amazing story, and, while for me personally it's the game's weakest point, a really interesting gameplay. The game is turned based tactical rpg, which means it doesn't have the stress of real-time games and rather, it focuses more on strategy and planning. The story itself is historical fiction, following the s...
